PauPau @ Sweet-i / Sweet Temptation, Sungai Dua

We have noticed this desserts shop house, Sweet-i or Sweet Temptation for quite some times when we pass by to Tesco Extra, Sungai Dua. Finally, we managed to try out the desserts there tonight . Sweet-i is located at Sungai Dua, after passing through the Pelita Nasi Kandar, it is just among the terraced houses on your left side.

Besides serving variety types of desserts on night time, they also have various type of herbal tea for the customers.

Complimentary Herbal Tea
There are complimentary herbal tea for those who dine in for desserts. According to the shop owner, the herbal tea is called Perilla (紫苏). After google it, then only I realized that Perilla have multi-function, either traditionally used as medicine in China or as a flavorful herbs in variety dishes in Japan and Korea.

Figs Medlar Fungus Dessert (RM3.50)
This dessert have lots of figs, wolfberries and white fungus. The sweetness of the dessert is fine and taste good. This dessert is very suitable for those who always stay on late night.

Brown Rice Porridge (RM5.50)
This no MSG brown rice porridge is cooked together with wheat, black fungus, red dates, white lotus and dried longan. It is very good for heart and kidney as well. 

Groundnut Creamy Dessert (RM3)
This dessert is just like the name, very creamy groundnut dessert. It is very taste good and not too sweet. 

Definitely, I will revisit again and try out others great desserts.

PauPau @ Azuma Japanese Restaurant, Queensbay Mall

Azuma Japanese Restaurant is one of my favorite spot for Japanese cuisine. Azuma Japanese Restaurant is located at 2nd floor of Queensbay Mall and just besides Harvey Norman. The environment there are very classy and spacious. 


Salmon sushi is always my top favorite when dine in at Japanese restaurant. Besides, they also served various types of sushi too. This is the first time we try out the seafood fried rice and it is really taste good and the prawns are very springy. 


Saba Set
This Saba set consists of grill mackerel fish, cawanmushi, salad, miso soup, steam rice and fruits. Overall the food portion are normal and the food quality are very good.

PauPau @ Bali Bali Cafe, Sungai Dua

Bali Bali Cafe is located at Sungai Dua, in the middle of USM and Tesco Extra. There are variety of food stalls for lunch and dinner. For breakfast, you also can have various kinds of Dim Sum.


Today I am going to try out this Japanese food stall, as the food presentation display in front of the stall really attracting me and make me drooling.


Okonomi Yaki (RM5)
Okonomi Yaki is a Japanese style pancakes which consists of variety of ingredients. Okonomi Yaki is made from grilled batter with fish, prawn, cabbage and onion. Then, top up with lots of smoked bonito flakes, seaweed flakes and mayonnaise. Overall, this is very delicious and the food portion sized are quite big. Definitely will revisit it again for this yummy Japanese pancake.


Yaki Udon (RM5)
Yaki Udon is a fried udon with cabbage, bean sprouts, prawns and top up with smoked bonito flakes and seaweed flakes. The food portion size are quite big and the gravy taste very great.

PauPau Beef Stew

One of my favorite dishes is beef stew, the reason I love beef stew lots as it is very flavorful and packed with lots of vegetables. I have using various herbs and spices in this recipe. Hope you will enjoy this recipe too.


Ingredients: (for marinated beef)
500gm beef cube
Himalaya salt (to taste)
1 teaspoon pepper powder
1 teaspoon rosemary powder
1 teaspoon oregano powder
1 teaspoon ginger powder
1 teaspoon thyme (dried)
1 teaspoon soy sauce


Ingredients:
5 potato (cube)
4 carrot (cube)
4 stalks celery (cube)
100gm minced onion
50gm minced garlic
3 cinnamon sticks
1 teaspoon thyme (dried)
Himalaya salt (to taste)
Pork ribs broth (can use beef stocks, beef broth or chicken broth.)
1 tablespoon lime / lemon juice
Cornflour (as cornstarch)
1 tablespoon olive oil (for stir fry)


Directions: (for marinated beef)
Wash and rinse the beef.
Cut it into cube.
Mix evenly all the herbs, salt and soy sauce. Marinated beef with the herbs mixture for at least 30mins.

Directions:
Heat olive oil in the wok over medium heat.
Add minced onion and stir fry until brown.
Add beef cube and stir fry for about 3mins.
Add minced garlic and cook for 30seconds. Then, add potato cube, thyme, cinnamon stick, salt, pepper and fill up the wok with pork ribs broth.
Cover and cook for at least 1hour with medium low heat.
Add carrot and celery in the stew and cook for about 1 hour with low heat.
If you like the stew to be thick, just mix evenly cornflour and cold pork ribs broth in a bowl. Then, pour the cornstarch into the boiling stew and stir well.
Served hot.

PauPau Stir Fry Beef with Herbs

When marinated beef, I always like to use herbs and spices that can bring out it complexity of flavor. Always use salt and pepper as the base for most seasoning and marinate beef. Just use pinch of sea salt to bring out the beef natural's flavor. For herbs, you may use fresh or dried herbs to marinated the beef. I am using rosemary, thyme and oregano to marinated the beef for this recipe.


Ingredients:
250gm beef
Garlic chopped
2 tablespoon lemon juice
Sea salt (to taste)
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 tablespoon chicken broth / water

Ingredients: (for marinated beef)
2 teaspoon rosemary powder
2 teaspoon oregano powder
2 teaspoon ginger powder
2 teaspoon thyme
1 teaspoon soy sauce
Pinch of sea salt

Directions:
Cut the beef into pieces or cubes. (any form you like)
Mix evenly all the herbs, gingers powder, sea salt and soy sauce and marinate the beef for at least 30mins.
Heat the oil in a sauce pan or wok. 
Add chopped garlic and stir fry until brown.
Add marinated beef and stir fry for about 30seconds.
Add chicken broth / water and lemon juice, stir fry until the beef is tender.
Add salt and stir well. (to taste)
Served hot with steamed rice.

PauPau @ 600cc Taiwanese Restaurant, Tesco Egate

600CC Taiwanese Restaurant currently have 5 outlets based in Penang, Gurney Plaza, Tesco, Prangin Mall, Sunway Carnival and Megamall Pacific.


They are specialize in beef noodle soup. The beef soup are taste good with the salted vegetables and the beef are tender too. Besides, the minced meat noodle with mixed sauce are delicious as well as the noodles are so springy.

PauPau @ Bak Kut Teh, Perak Road (Opposite Padang Brown)

Classic Cafe, opposite Padang Brown or along Perak Road, that is the famous Bak Kut Teh located. We have ordered Bak Kut Teh for 2person (RM16). The Bak Kut Teh portion size are quite big and filled with pork ribs and lots of spare parts. The yam rice are so delicious and is a must try.

Siang Hai Tim Sum Oriental Seafood Restaurant is currently closed for business.

Siang Hai Tim Sum Oriental Seafood Restaurant is located at entrance of Abu Siti Lane. For morning, they served variety of Dim Sum. While for afternoon and dinner, beside Dim Sum, they also served various type of dishes and seafood.


We have ordered the promotion set menu dinner, which is including four dishes as below, soup of the day, steam rice and Chinese tea for 4 persons at RM36.80. 


Soup Of The Day (Pork rib with radish)

Tomyam Fish Clay Pot
The tomyam soup taste very good and spicy enough. This clay pot have fish sliced, cabbage, mint leaves, chilly and lemongrass. 

Sweet & Sour Pork Rib
The pork rib are boneless and it is non oily at all. Overall the taste and the portion are good. 

Clay Pot Bean Curd with Leek
The clay pot are normal but I feel it is bits tasteless. The clay pot portion are quite big.

StirFry Kailan with Garlic

PauPau @ Chicago Ribs, Gurney Plaza

Chicago Rib House is famous in serving their Grilled Pork Ribs, Beef Ribs and Steak as well. It is located at Gurney Plaza and is a perfect place for those who love chills and grills.


There is a cozy dining area and a mini bar which served various type of imported beers.


Strawberry Lemonade is a combination of strawberry, lemonade and sprite. Not really like the taste as it is  likely cough mixture. Tropical Orange Freeze is an ice blended drinks of pineapples, orange and coconuts milk. This drink is much better and very refreshing too.


Trio Sampler
Trio Sampler as starter for the night. It is consists of fried mushroom, potato skins and chicken tenders with dressing and honey mustard.


Chicago Pork Ribs with Rib Eye 
This dish is a combination of Pork Ribs and Rib Eye. The pork ribs are well marinated and grilled until slightly crispy, and then covered with the BBQ sauce. It is really rich in aroma. While the steak are tender, but it would be perfect if there are more gravy or sauce for the steak.



Brownies with Ice Cream
We have choose Brownies with Ice Cream for the dessert. The brownies served are still very warm, thus the ice cream easily melted from the bottom. The brownies are very moist and taste great.

Chili's is a restaurant from United State and serving Mexican-American food. The environment there are quite comfortable and decorated with many colorful pictures on their wall.


Tostadas chips with tomato salsa
We have ordered tostadas chips as our starter and it is refillable. The tostadas are warm and crispy.

Triple Dipper
Triple Dipper consists of Southwestern eggrolls, boneless buffalo wings and chicken crisper. 

Grilled Lamb
South Western Grilled Lamb is served with creamy mashed potato and broccoli. The grilled lamb is well cooked and very tender. The mashed potato goes very well with the cheesy creamy sauce too.

PauPau Stir Fry Celery with Chicken Sliced

In Chinese cuisine, a simple plate of vegetables stir fry with garlic is very common. This is a very simple recipe for everyone. Since the emphasis is on celery, so besides chicken meat, any other meats will do just fine too.


Ingredients:
4 stalks celery
Carrot
Chicken sliced
Soy Sauce
Chicken broth or water
Pepper powder
Cornflour
Garlic
1 tablespoon cooking oil (for stir frying)

Directions:
Wash and rinse the celery and carrot.
Cut the celery into diagonal pieces.
Peel and cut the carrot in any form you like. (sliced, cube and etc.)
Sliced the chicken breast meat or cut it into in any form you like. (sliced, cube and etc.)
Marinated the chicken sliced with soy sauce, pepper and some cornflour. 
Preheat the wok with high heat and add in 1 tablespoon cooking oil. 
Add the chopped garlic and stir until light brown.
Add the chicken sliced and stir fry it with 1 tablespoon chicken broth / water until tender.
Then, add the celery, carrot and 1 tablespoon chicken broth and stir fry it until tender but till firm.
Add 1 tablespoon chicken broth if not enough gravy. 
Served it while hot.

PauPau @ Hong Kong Kim Gary Restaurant, 1st Avenue Mall

Kim Gary Restaurant is not new in Penang and it has been opened for years at Gurney Plaza. Kim Gary was newly opened not long ago at 1st Avenue. Kim Gary is so unique as it combine the essence of Chinese and Western food culture, from steam bun to French toast and many more.


Kim Gary is famous for their french toast and it is my favorite too. The french toast served at 1st Avenue are warm and much better than Gurney Plaza. The toast is covered with a thick melting peanuts butter and honey. The sticky toast is very good to serve while hot.

My favorite beverages "Ying Yong" in Hong Kong Style (Cham) is a mixed of coffee and tea. This drink is not so sweet and very refreshing.

PauPau @ Taiwan Bull, Queensbay Mall

Taiwan Bull is one of the restaurant which served Taiwanese cuisine in Queensbay Mall, Penang. They are specialized in beef noodle soup, which is strong in herbal taste and the beef are so tender. The environment are small yet warm.


Besides snacks and main meal, they also have variety of beverages and desserts too.

Besides minced meat noodles, beef rice, they also served several kind of stone rice.

Fish Fillet Curry Rice
The curry is not spicy and mild, just like the Japanese curry style. But the curry taste is not bad.

Crispy Pork Noodle Soup
If the pork is not dipped into the soup, then it will be more crispy and taste better.
